Eunan O’Kane and Ouasim Bouy next in line as Leeds United exodus continues

Leeds United were able to trim some deadwood on the European transfer deadline day. Vurnon Anita was released from his contract while Laurens De Bock joined Sunderland on loan.

Marcelo Bielsa prefers to work with a tight-knit squad and he is getting rid of the players that he doesn’t want to use. There are still some players left over from previous regimes and there are two that need January moves.

Ouasim Bouy and Eunan O’Kane need to be the next two players axed by Leeds. Here, we take a look at both of them and how their first-team chances at Leeds are bleak.

Bouy has never played a game for Leeds since his 2017 move from Juventus. Since then, he has spent time on loan with Cultural Leonesa and PEC Zwolle. But he failed to secure a loan or permanent transfer in the summer.

The 26-year-old operates as a centre-back or as a holding midfielder. But even though Leeds are short at centre-back, Bielsa is unlikely to use Bouy. With first-team opportunities hard to come by, it is time that the Dutchman pursues his career elsewhere.

O’Kane is a peculiar case at Leeds as he started his career at Elland Road with lots of promise. The 7-cap Republic of Ireland international has played more than 50 times for the Whites but his confidence has been shot since suffering several injuries.

The 29-year-old now needs a fresh break away from Leeds. Bielsa has not used O’Kane at all and he has his preferred options in midfield. But he does not have a squad number and is not even close to the first-team. Now is the time to move on.
