Craig Burley has named the Arsenal player he believes almost always makes an impact whenever he plays for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Gunners made a statement against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Arsenal won 5-0, ensuring that they got back to winning ways in some style.

Gabriel Martinelli put the icing on the cake with two goals in stoppage-time at the end of the second-half. However, Martinelli initially began the game on the bench, with Mikel Arteta instead opting for Leandro Trossard in the forward line.

Leandro Trossard praised after Arsenal win

The Belgian has been a brilliant signing for Arsenal since his £27 million move from Brighton. He contributed 10 assists in all competitions in the second-half of last season.

He was not as influential in the opening months of this campaign. However, Trossard did get on the scoresheet on Saturday, bagging his first goal in more than two months.

And speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley suggested that Trossard is someone Arteta can rely on to always make an impact.

“All in all, perfect day for them. Palace, it turned out, were a good team to play at the Emirates. And the likes of Trossard and others, for the second-half of the season, putting their hand up and saying, forget Martinelli, forget him, because when this guy plays, comes off the bench or starts, he generally always makes something happen. And he did that again today,” he said.

Gabriel Martinelli may have to be Gunners’ super-sub for now

Rio Ferdinand also lauded Trossard after the win over Crystal Palace. And with that, you have to say that the forward has probably done enough to keep his starting spot.

Martinelli has looked impressive off the bench in a few games now. So while he may not like it, he may perhaps fill the brief of being the perfect super sub for the Gunners.

Trossard has now been directly involved in 20 goals in just 47 games in all competitions. That is an outstanding return given that he has been rotated in and out of the side.

Certainly, there is no question that he has been an inspired signing for Arsenal.
