ESPN pundit so impressed by 26-year-old Arsenal player’s attitude against Nottingham Forest

Don Hutchison has issued his verdict on the performance of Gabriel Jesus as Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side picked up an important win in their Premier League title push. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring midway through the second-half, with Bukayo Saka doubling the lead shortly after.

Forest would get one back late on. But Arsenal – much like the clash at the Emirates – were able to see out the game and bag a valuable three points. This was a ground where they tripped up last season.

Gabriel Jesus praised after Arsenal win

Gabriel Jesus’ goal was a key moment, not just for Arsenal, but for himself also. Jesus has continued to have his doubters this season. Obviously, no one can question the quality Jesus has in almost every area. However, that ruthlessness in front of goal appears to be something which is often lacking.

He did need a big mistake from Matt Turner to find the back of the net on Tuesday. But Arsenal supporters will feel that he deserved that slice of fortune.

And speaking on ESPN, Don Hutchison suggested that Jesus earned that luck by not giving up after missing an earlier chance.

“I thought Gabriel [Jesus] was fantastic tonight. He had a chance where he blasted one off the post when he probably should have scored. But as a centre forward, his head never went down. He led the line really well, he got his goal, he got an assist,” he said.

Gunners need Brazilian to be their difference-maker in title race

Jesus will not have silenced all of his critics with his performance. Ultimately, he hit the post with one brilliant chance. And he fired one attempt over the bar after doing amazingly well to create some space inside the penalty area.

And it will make a massive difference to Arsenal if he can find some real form over the second-half of the campaign.

Having that consistent goalscorer appears to be all that separates Arsenal from their title rivals right now.

Jesus however, will believe that he can be that difference-maker for Arteta’s side.
