Arsenal fans were absolutely delighted to learn that Emile Smith Rowe had been called up to the England squad and the youngster’s good pal Bukayo Saka was buzzing for him as well.
Saka received his first England call up last year and he has become a regular since. Gareth Southgate even used him regularly at the Euros earlier this year, which just shows how good he is.
Smith Rowe will be hoping to follow his teammate’s footsteps. The young attacking midfielder certainly has the quality, but whether he will get a chance to show what he’s got in this international break is the big question.
Saka certainly hopes that he does. He has been really impressed with Smith Rowe’s performances this season and has claimed that the Arsenal number 10 is winning games for the club on his own now.
Saka: Smith Rowe is really starting to have an effect on Arsenal
The Englishman said about Smith Rowe, as per The Mirror: “He is my friend so of course, if he needs anything I’m sure he will ask me. If he needs anything, he knows I’m here for him.
“I think he deserves it. He has been playing extremely well for Arsenal, especially this season he is really starting to have an effect on games, scoring goals for us and winning games for us.
“I’m really happy for him, I’m really happy he is here and I hope he can kick on and have a fantastic week, hopefully continuing his club form here (with England on the international stage) as well.”

TBR View:
Since Mikel Arteta gave Smith Rowe a chance on Boxing Day last year, the youngster has been excellent. He really impressed last season but he lacked direct goal contributions, which was not ideal.
However, since the start of this season, he has looked a different player. Smith Rowe has scored four goals and has provided two assists in his last six games, including a goal in each of his last three Premier League appearances.
It will be interesting to see if Southgate gives the young Arsenal man a few minutes in the next two games. If recent performances are anything to go by, he really does deserve a chance, but the competition for places is really high at the moment, which makes things difficult for him.
