Eros Grezda must prove himself in 2019 or face Rangers scrapheap

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard brought the Albanian to Ibrox in the summer.

In the summer, Rangers raided Croatian side Osijek for two of their star players.

Croatian international left-back Borna Barisic arrived as did playmaker Eros Grezda.

The Albanian joined in a £2 million deal, according to the BBC. An exciting talent who can play either on the wing or in an attacking free-role, fans were excited at the prospect of seeing the player in action.

Grezda has certainly had his ups and downs since arriving in August.

He had to recover from an ankle injury after he first arrived and bided his time. Soon enough he was starting and played a starring role in a 7-1 win against Motherwell.

He went on to have a run of four consecutive starts before being taken off at half-time against St Johnstone.

Since then, he has not been seen. Grezda was not in the matchday squad for games against both Hibernian and Celtic.

So the second half of this season could be massive for the player. Rangers are hopeful of signing Ryan Kent permanently in the summer and have already secured the arrival of Jordan Jones from rivals Kilmarnock.

So competition is about to get fierce in his favoured wide position, with the likes of Glenn Middleton, Daniel Candeias and Jamie Murphy all currently at the club.

Grezda may prove to be a one-season wonder at Ibrox unless he can prove his worth over the seco2nd half of the Scottish season.
