Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland has backed Martin Odegaard to be a roaring success at Arsenal during an interview with VG.

The Norwegian checked in yesterday on a loan deal until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Haaland is an international teammate of the youngster and he has thrown his weight behind the deal.

Odegaard joins from Real Madrid where he had fallen down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.

Last season he scored seven goals and registered nine assists in 36 appearances on loan at Real Sociedad.

Haaland has scored 37 goals in 37 games for Dortmund and is widely regarded as one of the world’s top young talents.

His comments might be of interest to Gunners supporters who will look forward to seeing Odegaard in action.

The Dortmund star told VG: “It will be interesting. Arsenal are a big club in England.

“It’s a bit different football to what Real Madrid play, but I think he can fit in well with Mikel Arteta in the No.10 role.

“He can enjoy himself there. He has to get in there and start playing games.

“When he gains confidence with the ball, we know that the most incredible things can happen.”

TBR View: Exciting loan could ignite Arsenal

Odegaard might only be a short-term fix but that doesn’t stop it from being an exciting one.

With the Norwegian down the pecking order at Real Madrid, if things go well there’s no reason why an extension can’t be in the offing.

The 22-year-old is one of Europe’s top talents and he could become a hit at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have struggled this season for a creative spark and the man with 25-caps for his country could alter that.

The big question is how he will take to the Premier League but under Arteta’s guidance, he could have the tools to be a hit in England.

If he settles quickly and gets plenty of game time, he could really dazzle at the Emirates Stadium and become a fan favourite in no time.
