Red Bull Salzburg got their Champions League campaign off to a flying start last night with a 6-2 romp over Belgian side Genk.

South Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan was the star of the show with a sensational performance but the man taking all the headlines was Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haland.

Of course, that second name will sound familiar to Leeds United fans and the Norwegian is indeed the son of former Elland Road favourite Alfe Inge.

His son is now considered one of Europe’s top young strikers and Leeds United fans were certainly happy to see the 19-year-old score a hat-trick last night.

It was not the first time that Leeds fans have taken notice of Haland this year. He scored nine goals in one game at the World Under-20 Championships in the summer as Norway defeated Honduras 12-0.

Haland is, in fact, a big Leeds United fan and supporters at Elland Road have often wondered if one day, they might manage to lure him to the club.

That may one day be a possibility. The player himself made it clear he dreamed of winning the Premier League with the Whites one day, in an interview with Aftenposten.

“I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds. In addition, the goal is to be a better player than Dad was. I hope to get more international matches than he did.”

So whilst right now, Haland may be scoring goals for fun with Austria’s attack-minded super club, maybe one day he will end up bringing his goalscoring antics to Elland Road.
