Christian Eriksen’s time at Tottenham Hotspur will come to a sour end, according to the club’s former goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt.

The playmaker’s form continues to wane for the north Londoners, with many fans now convinced they have seen the best days of the 27-year-old.

Eriksen is into the final year of his contract and it is the opinion of most that he will be moving on in one of the next two transfer windows.

The former Ajax star has been linked with a host of clubs and doesn’t appear likely to sign an extension with Spurs at this point.

He currently has something of a strained relationship with the supporters amid his poor performances on the pitch, and now Thorstvedt has given his take on the situation.

Speaking to Nettavisen, he said: “I think Tottenham had an offer for Eriksen, but he refused to go to the clubs that would bid on him and which Tottenham would sell to.

“What he does now is not representative of his level.

“What has been a fantastic Tottenham chapter for Christian Eriksen ends in a sour way. I don’t think there will be any doubt about that.”

TBR’s view – A Daniel Levy blunder

Spurs will undoubtedly fail to get Eriksen’s true transfer value if he won’t sign a new deal as expected.

He may not be playing well right now, but he has been a brilliant Premier League player since his arrival at the club in 2013.

He is top-class on his day, and Daniel Levy must be kicking himself not to have tied him down to a big contract, even if just to protect his asset.

There was potential to have sold him for a nine-figure fee at one point, but he’s stuck around, talks reached an impasse and now his form could impact his January selling price.
