Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has now confirmed that two players were playing through injury against Manchester City today.

Ten Hag looked to be a frustrated figure on the sidelines today, a manager who was incensed that Marcus Rashford wasn’t awarded a foul before Phil Foden scored his equaliser.

It was a United performance that divided opinion, some felt as if they were diligent in defeat, simply beaten by an excellent Pep Guardiola team.

And then others seemed to think that there was still so much lacking, and it wasn’t clear how United would one day breach the gap.

But however fans saw the game, they probably won’t be too pleased to hear Ten Hag confirmed that a couple of players were playing through injury against City.

The United manager was speaking to talkSPORT after the game and confirmed that both Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans played through injury in their minutes today.

That being said, Evans was substituted when the game was 1-1 in the 69th minute, and then Rashford left the pitch around five minutes later.

Of course, that perhaps makes Rashford’s strike even more remarkable today, if he wasn’t feeling at peak condition.

It is a goal that will live long in the memory, even if it may have held more weight were it attached to a draw or a win.

But either way, Rashford demonstrated his rich ball-striking ability, even if there are other areas of his game that aren’t to the same calibre.

And as for Jonny Evans, he did produce another stellar display considering the stage of his career.

At 36-years-old, the Man United defender did remarkably well to play through his minutes if he was experiencing an issue throughout.

All that being said, Gary Neville has now pointed out two United players who he felt should have offered ten Hag more against City today.
