Erik ten Hag must now feel somewhat justified in his decision to call out Jadon Sancho at Manchester United after a development at Borussia Dortmund.
The Dutchman and the England international made headlines back in September following a public war of words, in which the winger hit back at the 54-year-old after being told to improve in training.
So, what has happened with Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund that must cause Erik ten Hag to feel slightly justified? Let’s take a look…
Erik ten Hag must feel justified by Jadon Sancho development
Well, it speaks volumes when a manager criticises a footballer in public.
Ten Hag must have criticised Sancho to the media for a reason – presumably, private discussions between the pair did not have the desired outcome.
Therefore, the Manchester United boss surely feels more justified in his decision after Edin Terzic – Head Coach of Borussia Dortmund – also decided to single out the £73m man publicly.
After Borussia Dortmund drew 1-1 to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night, the German said: “He didn’t have his best performance today and he knows that he is able to play better football than today.”

Clearly, Sancho is a player who Terzic – as well as Ten Hag – believes will respond better to public criticism than a private word, adding a new, interesting dimension to the Londoner’s fallout at Old Trafford.
How Manchester United loanee performed in Borussia Dortmund draw
Sancho – who received interest from Saudi Arabia in January – only lasted 68 minutes on Tuesday before Terzic withdrew him in place of Marius Wolf.
Judging by the statistics, it’s a surprise the 23-year-old didn’t come off sooner.
WhoScored shows that Sancho failed to have a single shot against PSV Eindhoven, nor did the Manchester United loanee register a key pass.

The Borussia Dortmund No.10 was also dispossessed on four occasions – more than any of his teammates.
Furthermore, Sancho completed just one cross before Terzic opted to substitute him.
Hopefully, the man from Camberwell delivers a better performance in the second leg, or else Ten Hag will feel even more justified in his decision to exile him.
