Erik Sviatchenko has posted a Celtic throwback on Twitter as it approaches four years since he scored his first goal for the Scottish champions in the Scottish Cup penalty-shootout defeat to Rangers – and Hoops fans have responded.
Sviatchenko, 28, joined Celtic in January 2016 and it did not take long for the Denmark international to build a good relationship with the Hoops supporters. He spent two and a half years with the club, clocking up 63 appearances.
He helped Celtic win three Scottish Premiership titles before being offloaded by Brendan Rodgers back to Danish side FC Midtjylland – where he has since become club captain and surpassed 200 appearances in all competitions.
Sviatchenko only scored twice for Celtic but his first came in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers – a match which saw a second-division Rangers side beat Celtic on penalties, despite Sviatchenko’s second-half header (below).
Celtic do have options at centre-back but with Neil Lennon reverting to a three-man defence, they could do with cover. Kris Ajer has also stated that he is keen to leave the club in the summer, via the source of his agent.
Celtic fans responded to the player they sold for just £1million (Record) two years ago, with some supporters urging him to consider a return to Parkhead.
