Erik Lamela's agent provides update on his Spurs future
Erik Lamela’s agent has told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that his client is not currently for sale, but suggested that his future will be discussed once Spurs make a decision over Harry Kane and appoint a new manager.
It has been a frustrating campaign for Lamela. He has only made five starts in the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho predominantly opting to use him as an option from the bench.
He has also struggled for game-time since Ryan Mason took charge. And with his contract expiring next summer (via Transfermarkt), supporters would be forgiven for wondering if he could be on the move in the near future.
Of course, much of the talk right now centres around Kane. But Vincenzo Morabito suggested that talks over Lamela’s future will also take place at some stage.
“His future will depend on Tottenham,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “Kane has asked for the sale: once this exit has been resolved and the coach fixed, we will also talk about Lamela who is currently not for sale.”
It looks to make a lot of sense for Spurs to sell Lamela this summer. The 29-year-old – who earns £80,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has struggled for game-time this season.
Of course, the incoming boss may want to make the attacking midfielder a part of their plans. But as things stand, Spurs will surely be open to offers.
They will surely be reluctant to offer him a new deal or let him go on a free next summer.
And while Morabito has claimed that he is not currently for sale, it does appear that he has left the door open for a move ever so slightly.
