Erik Lamela has posted on Instagram after returning to Tottenham Hotspur training after finally overcoming a niggling injury that has kept the Argentine sidelines for the club’s last 11 league and cup matches.
Lamela, 28, picked up an injury after the late 2-1 win over Brighton in which he started and lasted until the 70th minute. This season, Lamela has been in decent form, and started alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
However, the injury came at the worst time. The former Roma and River Plate man has been sidelined and forced to watch the likes of Lucas Moura, Gareth Bale and Steven Bergwijn replace him on the right flank.
Lamela has only played five Premier League matches this season and Spurs have picked up 13 points in those fixtures – highlighting the importance of the winger. He has scored twice, against Shkendija and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
However, the injury has seen him watch from the sidelines for the past 11 games. A shame for Lamela, who has been in and out of the Spurs side ever since joining the club under Andre Villas-Boas – since joining in 2013.
The £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) star has now posted on Instagram, confirming he has returned to training and he could now be in line to play some part of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Stoke on Wednesday.
