Erik Lamela has posted on Instagram after Tottenham Hotspur’s senior side trained at the new stadium for the first time, ahead of Sunday’s clash against Liverpool.
Spurs have finally confirmed that they will play their first match at the new 62,062-capacity stadium on April 3, when they play host to London rivals Crystal Palace.
It comes after the north Londoners were expected to relocate to the new stadium at the start of the season. The cost of the entire project is said to have exceeded a whopping £850million.
Lamela, 27, joined his teammates in taking the new turf on Thursday to train ahead of Sunday’s big Premier League clash against league leaders Liverpool. The Argentine was stunned by the new ground, describing it as “amazing”.
TBR’s view
Despite Tottenham finally moving into the new ground, there are still those that criticise. The main finger pointing has been at Spurs decision to move in with only a handful of fixtures still to play.
Some pundits, such as TalkSPORT and former Spurs man Jason Cundy, have stated that it is an unfair advantage to Spurs and not a level playing field for the rest of their opponents.
In TBR’s view, Spurs have been dealt an unfair advantage in having to play their matches without a permanent home – at Wembley. They are more than deserving of finally moving back to White Hart Lane.
