Erik Lamela believes that his Tottenham teammate Giovani Lo Celso is a player with tons of potential and he hopes he has a long-term future in north London.
Lo Celso joined Spurs initially on loan in the first half of the season, before his move to England from Spanish side Real Betis was made permanent in January.
The 24-year-old is a versatile ace that can play anywhere across the midfield and is a left-footed player who is extremely technical.
Despite his versatility, the Argentina international appears to have found a settled spot in Jose Mourinho’s team in the centre of the park and he looks to add some creative flair.
The central midfielder has two assists in his last four league games to show his attacking intent, but he’s also aggressive in his tackling and has great work-rate too to help out defensively.
Lamela has explained he rates his compatriot extremely highly and feels he’s not yet hit his ceiling.
“He gives us a lot of things on the pitch. He has so much potential and he is young as well. I hope for him and the club that he can play a long time here,” Lamela told Sky Sports.
TBR’s View – Spurs fans haven’t seen the best yet from Lo Celso
Lo Celso has shown in glimpses he’s got everything needed to be a top player in the Premier League, as he can deal with the physicality as well as possessing finesse on the ball.
He’s definitely one of the individuals that Mourinho can look to build the team around and aged 24 there should be more to come from him, as he’s still only in his first season in English football.
Spurs will have the chance to click the restart button next year after a disappointing campaign, but consistency from the likes of Lo Celso should make them a real therat.
