Erik Lamela hails countryman and new Tottenham team-mate Giovani Lo Celso

The Argentine duo are set to link up in north London.

Tottenham winger Erik Lamela is clearly excited about the signing of his Argentine countryman Giovani Lo Celso, as per the Ham and High.

The 23-year-old has not yet made his Spurs debut, but Lamela has assured the supporters that they’ll like what they see from the midfielder.

He said: “He’s an unbelievable player. The fans will know him soon. He’s very technical, an amazing left foot and he runs a lot. He will be good for the team.

When I came here, I was very young and there weren’t too many players around me like now, where we have a very good unit. As Argentinians, we’re together to help him, with the other guys in the group.”

TBR’s View – Lo Celso needs to adapt more quickly than Lamela did

Like Lamela, Lo Celso has come to Tottenham late on in a summer transfer window, robbing him of a pre-season to try and adapt.

That may set Lo Celso back somewhat, but he cannot afford to make a slow start because Tottenham need him in, ready to help the team as soon as possible – especially on the evidence of Saturday’s match.

Lamela took a long time to settle – and many would argue he’s still not showing his absolute best form – but as he says, he can help his countryman make the adjustment.
