Juan Foyth completed a permanent move to Europa League winners Villarreal after shining on loan with the Spanish side from Tottenham. Argentina ace Foyth was a key part of the side that beat Man United – and both Erik Lamela and Davinson Sanchez have reacted to his Instagram post, after his Tottenham exit was confirmed.

Foyth, 23, was frozen out by Jose Mourinho during the ex-Tottenham manager’s reign in charge. Foyth only ever clocked up one Premier League start under Mourinho – and that forced him into the decision to leave last summer. He has since played 32 times for Villarreal, under Unai Emery.

Ironically, Foyth ended his hunt for a trophy as Tottenham continue theirs. Villarreal’s defensive rearguard kept out Man United to win the Europa League trophy. Now, with Champions League football, they have exercised their £13million option (La Razon). Foyth has posted on Instagram.

Foyth unlikely to be only Tottenham exit, Sanchez and Lamela could join him

Daniel Levy will know that hiring a new manager this summer means he will have to promise them funds to spend. Tottenham’s squad needs major surgery. If Levy is forced to generate case from players sales, there are two ways he can secure some dough. One, is just sell Harry Kane.

That would give Spurs enough to orchestrate some major surgery. Or, it would be to sell their fringe players. £13million for Foyth is decent money. The likes of Lamela and Sanchez might join him – as could Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko. Lamela and Sanchez reacted to his exit.

Lamela said: “Big Juan, you’re going to smash it. Congratulations,” while Sanchez followed with “go Juan.”
