Tottenham Hotspur ace Eric Dier has spoken highly of Jose Mourinho and is looking forward to establishing himself as a top centre-back under his tutelage, in conversation with Sky Sports.
Dier has been with Tottenham since joining in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon, and has made 239 competitive appearances for Spurs, scoring 11 goals and claiming 11 assists.
The 26-year-old originally signed for Spurs as a defender, but was converted into a holding midfielder by Mauricio Pochettino the following year.

He went on to star both for Tottenham and for England as an anchorman, but earlier this year, after a game against Wolves in which he played at centre-back, he spoke about wanting to become established in the heart of defence.
“That’s the position I see myself playing, that’s where I see my future,” Dier told the Evening Standard.
“I was happy to be able to play and it’s obviously very nice of the manager speaking that way about me. Obviously, the most important thing is the team to win games and we haven’t done that.”
Dier’s Tottenham contract was due to expire next summer but, earlier this week, Spurs confirmed that the player had penned a new deal which takes him to the summer of 2024.
“Mourinho has already been fantastic with me, putting his faith in me to play at centre-back, and it’s been fantastic to work with him and put more focus on that position,” Dier told Sky Sports.
“You’ve seen what Mourinho has done with players in that position in the past, great players. I’m really enjoying working with him, he’s constantly pushing me, and I cannot wait to keep working on that.
“I am really enjoying his man management, not only with me but what I see with others around me.”
TBR View:
Dier has been a great servant for Tottenham since 2014 but unfortunately, health problems and injury issues have made life hard for him in recent years.
With a new long-term contract now signed, it shows just how much faith Spurs – and Mourinho – have in Dier.
And with how the player is also pleased about what the future holds for him under the serial-winning coach, it’s exciting news all round.
