Tottenham might have seen off West Ham yesterday to keep their push for the top four intact but according to Eric Dier, the players are already working on ways they can improve.
Dier, who has been in fine form for Spurs in recent weeks, played a key role as the Hammers were brushed aside in North London yesterday. However, Dier was part of a defence which once again conceded as a result of a set-piece for what was the fourth time in the past nine goals.

And Dier, speaking to Football.London, has explained how the Spurs players are acutely aware of their need to improve their defending from dead ball situations.
“That is definitely something we are trying to improve,” admitted Dier. “The Premier League is the most difficult league in the world in most things, but definitely set-pieces, a team like West Ham it is one of their best strengths with the size that they have,” Dier told FL.
“We are definitely making a conscious effort to be better and I think we have been. Today [against West Ham] is a different kind of goal, it’s a second ball and not a first contact so we need to be better.”
TBR’s View: Dier And Romero Can Help Plug Leaks For Tottenham
Dier has been in good form for a few weeks now and together with Cristian Romero, they should be able to work towards solving this problem for Tottenham. Ben Davies, too, also needs to be involved.
Conceding from set-pieces and keeping them out can often be the difference in a team doing well and not. For Spurs, who are chasing the top four, ensuring they don’t let goals in this way is going to be crucial.
It’s a good thing that Dier and his teammates recognise the issue. But the key now is acting on it and making sure things improve going forward.
