Tottenham defender, Eric Dier, has been speaking about his performances under Antonio Conte and has revealed how a simple message from the Italian is helping him.
Dier is playing, arguably, the best football of his career and he’s become a key figure in the heart of the Spurs defence under Conte’s guidance. Against West Ham yesterday, Dier was once again in impressive form as he helped Tottenham pick up another big three points.

Certainly, Dier’s performances have caught the eye this term. He’s earned praise from a number of pundits, with Jonathan Woodgate calling him ‘magnificent’ just a few weeks ago. And Dier, speaking to the Evening Standard, has revealed how a simple instruction from Conte has allowed him to focus.
“It is always very nice when a manager, especially one like him, says those things. It gives me a lot of confidence, but the thing I pay most attention to from his words is that I have a lot of space for improvement and I think that is really the thing he says that I focus on the most,” Dier commented.
“I want to fill that space, fill that potential, as much as possible, as much as he thinks possible.”
TBR’s View: Dier Turning Things Around At Tottenham
There was a time when some might have put Dier in the same boat as Dele Alli, in that he might have needed a move away from Spurs to kick start his career. However, unlike Alli, Dier has buckled down under Conte and ensured he is a permanent fixture in the XI.
For Dier, this is where he deserves big praise. Yes, Conte’s management is helping him but it’s down to him at the end of the day, and he is the one turning in good performances.
Dier has been excellent and if he carries on like he is, then an England recall might be on the horizon.
