Eric Dier posts on Instagram after confirming new Tottenham deal

Eric Dier has posted a four-word verdict on Instagram after it was confirmed that he had signed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur – prompting reaction from Raheem Sterling and Jan Vertonghen, among others.

Dier, 26, has starred for Tottenham since Jose Mourinho was appointed manager and despite constant criticism from supporters – the England international has been moved to centre-back where he has returned to form.

The only blot on the player’s copy book of late is his four-match suspension, after the England international jumped into the Tottenham stands to confront a fan and defend his brother – which saw him receive a four-match ban.

Dier had entered the final 12 months of his Tottenham contract but Mourinho and Spurs have moved to extend that deal, with his new contract set to keep him at Spurs until the summer of 2024. He posted on Instagram.

Since his £4million move to Spurs (BBC) in the summer of 2014, Dier has clocked up a whopping 239 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions – whether that be at right-back, in midfield or at centre-back.

He also has 40 caps for England and one of his Three Lions teammates Raheem Sterling responded with a heart emoji, while Joe Hart congratulated Dier. Ryan Mason and Jan Vertonghen also commented.
