Eric Dier is an underrated cog in Tottenham team

Eric Dier is never going to win any awards for his style of play, but there is no doubt the Tottenham enforcer is a crucial part of the team.

The 25-year-old if often overlooked by people when in fact he is criminally underrated at times and has a major role within Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

He is a defensive midfielder that marked his return from illness with a cameo against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League that epitomised what he’s about.

The England international wears his heart on his sleeve as someone with brilliant aggression and he breaks up play for his side.

Dier gets through the industrious work that allows his team to usually dominate the ball and he’s often missed when he doesn’t play.

Spurs have lost eight of their 29 Premier League games, with six of them appearing when Dier has not played.

Spurs signed Dier for £4million (BBC) back in 2014 and he’s turned out to be an absolute bargain for the North London club.

His return for the remainder of the season should be a major boost to Pochettino and he will add some extra steel in the centre of the park.

They have missed his presence in the big games and there are plenty more of them still to come with the club competing for the top four and in the Champions League quarter-finals.
