Eric Dier insists Tottenham can cope without Harry Kane

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier has claimed that Tottenham will cope without Harry Kane, who has torn his hamstring and could be out of action until March.

Spurs captain Kane is arguably their most influential player and already has 11 league goals this season. The injury to his hamstring will certainly impact the team’s attacking prowess, but they have managed without him in the past.

Last season, Kane was out of action for a number of months with an ankle injury and Tottenham arguably thrived while he was on the sidelines.

As reported by The Evening Standard, teammate Dier insisted that they can do it again. He said: ”Every season we’ve been posed this question we’ve answered it. It’s just up to the other players to step up. Harry’s one of the best strikers in the world, so it would be a loss to any team.

”He’s a really, really important player for us, but everybody has the opportunity to be an important player.”

Dier’s point is a valid one. Spurs have a lot of attacking options and the likes of Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min have the ability to step up and be the main goal threat while Kane is on the treatment table.

Manager Jose Mourinho will certainly have to adapt the way he sets up his team. They will need to find an effective way of playing without Kane’s hold up play and ability to bring others into the game.
