Enzo Maresca makes his stance clear over letting Christopher Nkunku leave Chelsea in January

Christopher Nkunku’s time at Chelsea has been seriously underwhelming with the Frenchman having arrived at Stamford Bridge with such a big reputation.

Nkunku has started just twice in the Premier League this season and is very much seen as a squad player right now. The 27-year-old will feel he should be getting more minutes and talk about a move away for Nkunku has already started.

Enzo Maresca has made clear what he thinks about letting the forward leave ahead of the January transfer window and his stance may frustrate the Frenchman.

Maresca does not want Nkunku to leave Chelsea in January

Chelsea are unwilling to let Christopher Nkunku leave the club in January, according to the Daily Mail. The former Bundesliga star has been told he will need to swallow any unhappiness for now as the Blues cannot afford to lose him mid-season.

Nkunku is their current back-up option to Nicolas Jackson and should the striker pick up an issue, the Frenchman would suddenly become a key player. TBR Football understands that Nkunku is becoming increasingly concerned about the situation but he is open to fighting for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Losing Nkunku would also see Chelsea lose their main centre forward for domestic cup and European matches. He has featured in all but one of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup and Europa Conference League games this term.

There is a good chance Enzo Maresca’s stance over letting him leave changes in the summer. The Blues want another striker and Liam Delap has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Will Chelsea let Marc Guiu leave in January?

Marc Guiu is not one of the players Chelsea are pushing to offload in January, as per BBC Sport. The West London club are open to letting several players leave but the Spaniard is not one of them.

Guiu is another player who has been given limited game time but Maresca is not inclined to let him leave on loan next month. The 18-year-old scored a hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers in Europe on December 19.
