Enzo Le Fee has been asked to name Sunderland’s most impactful signing from the 2025 summer window.

Sunderland completed 15 transfers following their Championship play-off final win over Sheffield United.

Among them was Enzo Le Fee, who has made seven appearances and scored one goal in the Premier League this season.

The Black Cats are thriving in the top-flight, and Le Fee has now singled out one player who has been key to their success so far this term.

Enzo Le Fee names Granit Xhaka as most impactful Sunderland transfer

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Le Fee was asked: “You signed permanently in the summer. Of all the players, who’s been, I guess, the most impactful both on and off the pitch for you?”

The Frenchman responded by heaping praise on club captain Granit Xhaka. He said: “I think Granit, Granit Xhaka.

“Because he’s for me the best captain I had in my life in my career. Because he’s a really good player. So of course, but for me the captain role it’s not enough to be good on the pitch, and he’s [a] really good guy.

“He tries to take care about everybody. He tries to give us the best environment.

“He changed a lot of things here in Sunderland. So yeah, for me, I would say Granit. “

Xhaka was nominated for the POTM award in September and has even been compared to Kevin De Bruyne following a superb start to life in the North East.

The veteran midfielder has continued his superb form following the October international break, captaining Sunderland to a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

It’s fair to say he’s been a great signing, and fans should love what a former player told Xhaka about their club before he joined.

Granit Xhaka sought advice from Sunderland legend before transfer

Before swapping European football for what many expected to be a relegation battle, Xhaka spoke to Jermain Defoe about joining Sunderland.

Defoe revealed what he told the 33-year-old in an interview earlier this month.

He said: “Granit Xhaka, even signing, and he actually, he was on my A-license (course), so he messaged me and wanted to obviously speak about the club, and he said, ‘oh, what’s it like?’

“I said, you’ll love it there. Like, the fans are amazing.”
