Enrique urges Liverpool to beat Chelsea and Newcastle, and sign 24-year-old

Jose Enrique has told Liverpool fans on Instagram that he thinks Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele would be “amazing” and “world class” under Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool are one of numerous English sides keen on the Frenchman.

Dembele, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season. The 2018 World Cup winner is slowly getting back to his best after a nightmare spell with injury – a long way away from the player Barcelona paid over £100million to sign.

New reports have emerged this week, that the ex-Rennes star is unwilling to pen new terms at Barcelona. That is because Xavi’s side are currently unwilling to increase his £200,000-a-week wages at the Nou Camp.

Dembele is asking for a pay rise, according to 90Min. They also state that Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are all interested in landing the player on a free transfer. Enrique wants him at Anfield.

Enrique on Dembele: Why Liverpool need him, but not in the summer

The Reds need Dembele, now. It is well-documented that Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are set to jet off and represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations. Naby Keita is also going, and his absence will be felt.

It means players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and even Harvey Elliott – if fit – will have to cover. Indeed, all three would have been in line to offer back-up to Mane and Salah – but will also have to do so for Keita.

Dembele is a player Liverpool need both short term, and long-term. Mane and Salah turn 30 in April and June next year, and Dembele is still only 24. It is a no-brainer for the Reds to nab the Frenchman.
