Tottenham Hotspur forwards Son Heung-min and Harry Kane have been praised by Eintracht Frankfurt captain Sebastian Rode.

The 32-year-old was speaking to his club’s official website after Spurs ran out 3-2 winners over the Bundesliga side in the Champions League.

Tottenham trailed after just 14 minutes, Daichi Kamada slotting home into an empty net from close range.

Eric Dier’s heavy touch in the area allowed Rode to set up the Japan international for an easy goal.

However, it didn’t take long for Tottenham to restore parity.

A Kristijan Jakic tackle, reviewed by VAR, then led to a Spurs penalty, which Kane converted on 28 minutes.

And Son made it 3-1 in the 36th minute with a thunderous first-time volley from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s cross.

Just 15 minutes into the second half, Tuta earned his marching orders for two yellow cards in quick succession for fouls on Son.

However, Frankfurt made it a tense finish for Tottenham as substitute Faride Alidou headed in from a corner on 87 minutes.

Kane then missed a 92nd-minute penalty to make the win safe and was nearly punished by Alidou, whose last-minute effort was saved by Hugo Lloris.

“Incredibly high quality”

Son dazzled on the night, looking full of confidence again and giving the Frankfurt defence a torrid time.

And Kane was great as usual, notching up a goal and an assist on the night.

Rode, speaking to the Frankfurt website, admitted both players were tough to play against.

“Tottenham’s incredibly high quality made the difference,” he said.

“They took their chances mercilessly. Harry Kane did really well and Son showed his quality too.

“We tried to be brave and push up. However, they always found Kane, who was then able to use Son with his enormous speed.

“We wanted to support our strikers as much as possible by starting up high, but Tottenham exploited the space behind them mercilessly before the break.”
