Wolves scraped into the fifth round of the FA Cup at the second time of asking last night, with a 3-2 victory over Shrewsbury Town in their fourth round replay at Molineux.

The League One strugglers once again caused the Old Gold problems, going into a 2-1 first half lead, before Ivan Cavaleiro eventually won the game.

Wolves have a genuine opportunity to make a splash in this season’s competition – the next round sees them face Bristol City, and there was animosity (Bristol Post) after last term’s clash between the sides – as one of a handful of Premier League sides remaining in the competition.

But perhaps the most exciting element of last night’s game was the full debut handed to striker Niall Ennis, who is a hugely promising talent who has has his injury problems in the past.

And with Raul Jimenez the only genuine striker available to Nuno Santo at the moment, there should be opportunity for Ennis to impress in the first team between now and the end of the season, if he can stay fit.

The 19-year-old should have a great future in the game and with Wolves spending big and showing ruthless ambition, this window of opportunity could represent Ennis’ best chance to establish himself under Santo.
