After England’s World Cup heroics this summer in Russia, the country’s passion for international football has been reignited by Gareth Southgate’s men and, despite suffering semi-final heartache, there’s much to look forward to in the lead up to Euro 2020.
The Three Lions will resume action against Switzerland on September 11th, and a new wave of talent is expected to be given a chance to shine under the charming Southgate. We’ve chosen four in-form players who Gareth Southgate should consider selecting for the next internationals.

Joe Gomez – Liverpool
Gomez has started the season as Virgil Van Dijk’s partner in crime at the heart of the Reds defence and is proving exactly why Jurgen Klopp has shown so much faith in him.
The 21-year-old should be a shoe-in for the upcoming England internationals after narrowly missing out on a place in Southgate’s World Cup squad due to injury.
Calm, composed and extremely athletic Gomez is everything you would want your England centre-back to be.
Callum Wilson – Bournemouth
Wilson has already netted twice for Bournemouth this campaign and looks set to have the season of his life if he continues playing the way he is doing.
The 26-year-old is uncapped for England. However, a record of 21 goals in 64 Premier League games for a mid-table side after suffering two long-term, career-threatening injuries is a testament to how good he could be.

Will Hughes – Watford
Hughes has started the season terrifically for Watford, and the teenage prodigy who was once considered as England’s best emerging talent is beginning to live up to the hype.
The 23-year-old has made more tackles than any other player in the Premier League so far (15) and has been a critical component of Javi Gracia’s unbeaten Watford setup so far this campaign.
Demarai Gray – Leicester City
The 22-year-old winger has been a staple point of Puel’s starting XI since the Frenchman’s arrival and is starting to come of age in an exciting young Leicester side.
Gray has completed more dribbles than any other player in the Premier League so far (10) and scored his first goal of the season in Leicester’s 2-1 win away at Southampton at the weekend.
