Patrick Bamford has explained that he talks in French with Leeds United teammate Raphinha to help their relationship on the pitch.
Raphinha, 24, moved to Elland Road in the summer from French club Rennes and has made a great impact in the Premier League so far.
He’s a Brazilian right-winger that is so dangerous cutting inside to his favoured left foot and has injected extra flair to the Whites team.
The wide player has scored four goals and four assists in 18 games across all competitions.
Leeds’ 27-year-old English striker Bamford has revealed that he communicates in French with Raphinha to help him out, with the duo striking up a great understanding in the final third.
“He doesn’t speak English great, he can understand it, and he can speak a very small amount, he’s doing lessons at the minute,” Bamford told Leeds’ official podcast.
“Because I can speak French a little bit, he was in France for a year, so we kind of speak in French. I speak French to him, so we’ve kind of got that rapport straight away because I made a bit of effort.”

TBR’s View:
It’s brilliant that Raphinha has players in the Leeds camp making an extra effort with him and doubt many fans knew Bamford could speak in French.
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has managed to get across his messages at the Yorkshire club in recent years without speaking fluent English at the start and he still prefers to speak to the media with a translator.
Most importantly Raphinha has brought into the high intensity style of play that Leeds have and it’s showing on the pitch that the language barrier has not been an issue for him.
