England v Scotland: Liam Cooper sums up Arsenal star's Wembley display in two words on Instagram
Liam Cooper would have summed up how many fans felt about the performance of Kieran Tierney as the defender posted a two-word reaction to the Arsenal star’s Instagram following the draw in the England v Scotland game at Wembley.
Steve Clarke’s men are rightfully receiving plaudits from all sides after a superb performance in their second Euro 2020 group game.
It was a must-not-lose clash for Scotland. But with England seeing off Croatia in their opener, it seemed that Clarke’s men were up against it.
However, with two games in the group now done, the opening results should perhaps be reflected upon very differently.
Czech Republic played their part by drawing with Croatia. But Scotland followed that by producing an outstanding display in London.
Clarke got a number of his changes absolutely spot on. And one of those involved Tierney returning from injury to replace Cooper.
The Gunners star was excellent throughout. He caused a number of problems along with Andy Robertson down England’s right flank.
And the goalless draw leaves Scotland’s fate in their own hands. Four points should be enough for at least third place, and a probable spot in the knockout stages.
Scotland fans will be desperately hoping that Tierney came through the game unscathed. And so will the Arsenal man’s teammates, clearly.
Tierney took to social media to express his delight after the result. And amongst those to reply was Cooper, who hit the nail right on the head…
England v Scotland: Clarke’s men now able to reflect more positively on their two performances
There is no question that Scotland would have been hugely disappointed to lose at Hampden Park in their opener.
However, it is surely now slightly easier to reflect on how good they were against Czech Republic. They were beaten by two excellent finishes.
Scotland played some good football and should have scored on a couple of occasions.
Friday’s point really showed how good Clarke’s men can be. And they have given themselves a lifeline ahead of their final group game.
