England cricketer Jason Roy has told Sky Sports that he hopes to score a timely ton in the Fourth Test against Australia – if only to see what Tottenham Hotspur will give him as a reward!
The batsman is referring to the generosity posed by Tottenham following the third test when they sent hero Ben Stokes a shirt with his name on the back.
Roy has also made the amusing claim that Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final last season was solely down to his daughter, who inadvertently pledged her allegiance to the club during the competition.
In the third Ashes test, Stokes smashed 135 not out, putting on a last-wicket stand of 73 with Jack Leach to claw a win from the depths of despair.

Tottenham obliged with a gesture of goodwill and now Roy wants a piece of the action.
He said in his Sky Sports column: “It would be amazing if I can contribute and get a big score in these next two tests.
“Even if just to see what I can get sent to me Tottenham Hotspur; Stokesy has been showing off with the new shirt he got sent by them after his hundred, but my little girl Everly is a Tottenham fan.
“During their Champions League game against Manchester City earlier in the year, I remember she was crying and crying and then I flicked the football and suddenly she stopped. I said, if Tottenham win this game, she’s a Tottenham fan. She didn’t cry the whole game and, in my opinion, their run to the final was all down to her.”
Batting obligation
Roy was part of the England ODI squad that defeated New Zealand in the summer to win the World Cup for the very first time.
His knock of 153 in the group game against Bangladesh was the second-highest of the whole tournament.
Roy badly needs to score some runs in the last two Tests of the Ashes series to convince people that he has a future in the red-ball format of the sport.
If he does secure a high score or two then Tottenham may come calling – or Tweeting – with a gift for another member of England’s cricket team.

Harry Kane responded to Stokes to invite him to a game after his heroics in the last test.
If Roy can oblige with some runs in the forthcoming matches, then the Tottenham talisman might start to run out of space in his box.
It is little surprise that people are keen to fish for Tottenham goodies and match tickets. Their new state-of-the-art stadium is bound to attract new supporters.
