According to The Times, Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering James Tarkowski. Wolves have submitted an enquiry for the impressive Burnley defender.
Burnley will be desperate to keep Tarkowski but the lure of Europa League football could tempt him to Molineux this summer.
Depending on the price, Tarkowski could be a shrewd signing for Nuno Espirito Santo. Not only would he improve Wolves’ homegrown quota, but Tarkowski would also complete Nuno’s back-line.
Wolves look strong all over the pitch. From Rui Patricio in goal to Raul Jimenez in the attack, Wolves have some exciting players performing well.
But if you had to pick one position which needs strengthening, it would be the central defensive department. Conor Coady plays the sweeper role well in the middle and Willy Boly has the left side covered.
However, Wolves could do with one more defender to complete the back three. Tarkowski would be an upgrade on Ryan Bennett and a strong candidate to complete the defence.
The twice-capped England international has been a rock for Burnley over the past few seasons. Forming a strong partnership with Ben Mee, Tarkowski has racked up 85 Premier League appearances and a total of 103 Clarets games.
But this could be the perfect opportunity for the 26-year-old to try a new project at an important stage of his career. For both Wolves and Tarkowski, this could be a shrewd move.
