Andros Townsend has told TalkSPORT – as per the Daily Record – that he would be open to considering offers from Celtic and Rangers. The England international is about to see his Crystal Palace contract expire. Asked about a move to Celtic or Rangers, Townsend said he would certainly consider it.

Townsend, who turns 30 in July, is one of many Palace stars set to see their contracts end on June 30. It sees a five-year spell at Selhurst Park come to an end this summer. The ex-Tottenham winger – who earns £55,000 a week (Spotrac) only missed four of Palace’s 38 league matches in 2020-21.

He still has plenty of legs left in him despite 399 club appearances – for 12 different clubs, having been sent on loan by Tottenham nine times. Speaking on TalkSPORT, Townsend responded when asked if he would entertain possible moves to Celtic or Rangers – on a free transfer.

“I’m open to everything,” Townsend told TalkSPORT – as per the Record. “If there’s an option that presents itself and it’s the best one for me and fulfils my needs, I wouldn’t turn it down just because it’s in another country.”

Which club needs Townsend more – Celtic or Rangers?

Rangers have numerous options on the flanks. Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe are currently the starting options either side of Alfredo Morelos. Ianis Hagi comes on in every match and starts more often that not. The club do have numerous other options, including Jordan Jones and Glenn Middleton.

But plenty of wingers could leave Ibrox – with Greg Stewart already departing. A winger could join and Townsend would start. However, Celtic need him more – with Mo Elyounoussi leaving and little competition to replace him. Celtic need him more, because they are trailing Rangers.
