'Emotional about this', 'it's a shame': Some Aston Villa fans gutted as club makes announcement

Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to wish Bjorn Engels all the best after leaving the club.

The 26-year-old has completed his move to Royal Antwerp, returning to his native Belgium.

The Villans and Antwerp reached agreement last week and Engels successfully completed his medical to seal the move.

“Wish him all the very best”

The Belgian centre-back joined Villa from Reims in the summer of 2019.

He made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal in his maiden season.

Engels played a part in helping Villa return to the Premier League in 2019-20.

“Aston Villa would like to thank Bjorn for his time at the club and wish him all the very best for the future,” the club wrote in a statement.

While things sadly didn’t work out for Engels at Villa, fans were nonetheless sad to see him go.
