Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong believes the Gunners should sign Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell this summer.
The Englishman has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best young talents in the space of the past year or so.
Chilwell dislodged Christian Fuchs from the Foxes’ starting XI, and has gone on to earn five senior caps for the Three Lions.
His stock is certainly rising, and there have been links to Manchester City recently (The Mirror).
He has done enough in Frimpong’s eyes to warrant playing in an Arsenal shirt, as he tweeted during Leicester’s game with Tottenham on Sunday.
A brilliant fit
Chilwell would be a great signing for Arsenal.
Left-back has been something of a problem position this season with Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac having both suffered injuries.
The Bosnian is back in the picture and starting regularly at the moment, but is leaving a lot to be desired.
Kolasinac is a danger going forward but sometimes shirks defensive responsibility, whereas Chilwell is relatively solid in his primary role, as well as being good going forwards.
Chilwell is a great all-round left full-back, with fantastic crossing ability.
There’s a chance that Arsenal could secure their best left-back since Ashley Cole with his signing, which admittedly would come at quite an expense given he only signed a new contract in October (via the club’s official website).
