Emilio Izaguirre has been training with his boyhood club Motagua in Honduras this week. The left-back is looking to keep fit as he plans his next move after rejecting a new deal at Celtic and leaving this summer.
It also appears that his time at Celtic may not have ended on the best terms.
As reported by Herald Scotland, Celtic boss Neil Lennon wanted the veteran full-back to stay at Parkhead this summer. However, Izaguirre decided it was time to move on and left the club.

Now he is training with Motagua as he looks for a new club. As he informed Diez in his homeland he hopes that will be in the United States with an MLS team. Izaguirre also mentioned that he tried to leave for the USA in January, but that Celtic made it impossible for him to make the move.
“The priority is the MLS…the first thing is another country and that it is close to Honduras.
“I had an offer in January and Celtic did not let me go. I had offers from the MLS, my agents just told me that Celtic put up a lot of obstacles and he is now working so that everything goes well.”
Izaguirre was in his second spell at Celtic where he has built up a huge reputation with the Parkhead faithful.
However, by the end of his time at Celtic, the 33-year-old was clearly past his best and fans were comfortable with letting him go.
It is also clear that Izaguirre still loves the club. It just seems that, in January, the hierarchy at Celtic might not have given Izaguirre the chance to move on that he had wanted.
Celtic fans will now hope that Izaguirre can find the club that sees him thrive once again.
