Emile Smith Rowe shares what has blown his mind at Arsenal this season
Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe has admitted that seeing the No. 10 shirt on the changing room wall feels “a bit crazy”.
The 21-year-old Gunners gem is one of the most talented players to come through the Hale End ranks in recent years.
Smith Rowe has had to bide his time in terms of getting first-team football at Arsenal, but it’s been worth the wait.
He had made just two Premier League appearances prior to last Christmas.
However, Arteta named him in the starting XI against Chelsea on Boxing Day, and the rest is history.
Smith Rowe has clocked up 52 competitive senior appearances for Arsenal, registering nine goals and eight assists.
And this season, the club handed him the No. 10 shirt, previously worn by Dennis Bergkamp, Robin Van Persie, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil.
Speaking to Michael Timbs at BBC MOTDX, Smith Rowe spoke of just how much it means to be wearing the famous number.
“It means the world man,” said the Arsenal ace.
“I’ve walked into the changing room a couple of times now and seen it on the wall.
“Putting it on is a bit crazy but it’s the best feeling in the world.”
Smith Rowe previously wore No. 32 at Arsenal and at Huddersfield, where he spent time on loan.
