Emile Smith Rowe picks out Aubameyang, Gabriel and White as Arsenal leaders

Arsenal saw off Aston Villa last night as Emile Smith Rowe inspired them to a well-earned victory against a below par Dean Smith outfit at The Emirates.

Smith Rowe was in fine form as he caused issues all night with his dribbling and speed. He helped himself to a goal, while also laid one on for fellow midfielder, Thomas Partey.

Along with Bukayo Saka, the England youngster has become part of a young contingent at Arsenal who are leading the charge under Mikel Arteta.

But despite the young pretenders dominating the headlines, Smith Rowe told Sky Sports after the game that a couple of players are showing real leadership qualities off the pitch as well.

There’s a few (leaders) to be honest. Aubameyang the captain is always speaking, Gabriel, the two centre-backs Ben (White) as well,” Smith Rowe said when questioned by Gary Neville.

“I feel like together we are such a strong team and we’re coming together really well. We always try and help each other on and off the pitch. It’s really starting to show. Playing with these experienced players, it’s a bit surreal at times but it’s great when we step on the pitch together and I feel like the chemistry is really coming together.”

Aubameyang, too, has enjoyed a welcome return to form. He scored and assisted last night as well and looked close to being back to his best.

TBR’s View: Smith Rowe part of an important group at Arsenal

For years, Arsenal have been deemed a soft touch. Easy to play against at times and almost able to be bullied out of games. But it doesn’t seem that way anymore, for now at least.

In Gabriel they have a real dominant presence, while Ben White looks a class act at £50m. Behind them, Aaron Ramsdale is becoming a presence as well.

Couple that with experienced players like Aubameyang and Lacazette, and the core is there now for Arteta. And with Smith Rowe and more buzzing around them, things are very much on the up at Arsenal.
