Emile Heskey comments on future of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish

Emile Heskey is predicting that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish will join a top four club in the Premier League and rates him a special talent.

The 24-year-old is the talisman in a Villa team that are fighting relegation from the Premier League this season and they are just a point above the drop zone as it stands.

He will also lead out his boyhood club on Sunday at Wembley when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

The attacking midfielder has played 29 games across all competitions so far this campaign, scoring nine goals and supplying eight assists in return.

Heskey believes that Grealish’s future will lie away from the Midlands giants despite coming through the academy at Villa.

The Sun has previously reported this month that Manchester United are keen on signing Grealish, with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona joining the hunt for him too.

“When I was at Villa he was actually a young 15-year-old kid come and train with his every now and again and do the same then when was 15 as what he’s doing now,” Heskey told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“So you knew he’s got something special. I think Man United were looking at him then but he’s a Villa fan and wants to do well for Villa and definitely got what it takes to play at the top four clubs. And to be honest, it’s a matter of when not if he’s going to leave.”

TBR’s View:

After an excellent individual campaign so far for Villa in the Premier League, it’s quite clear that he can’t be playing Championship football next season and that he’s good enough to earn a big-money move.

It would be a fairytale ending in some ways if he can win the League Cup and keep his club in the top-flight during a final season with them.

He is still under contract until 2023 with Dean Smith’s side, but no supporter should begrudge him if he looks to move on in the summer if a big club comes calling.
