Emil Forsberg’s agent responds to Jose Mourinho’s positive comments

Tottenham Hotspur lost the first-leg of their Champions League tie with RB Leipzig in midweek. A solitary Timo Werner penalty gave the German side a much-deserved advantage after dominating the game in North London.

After the match, Jose Mourinho pointed to his current injury problems at Spurs, which left him with minimal attacking options from the bench.

He pointed to Leipzig’s more favourable position. The German side brought on both Emil Forsberg and Yussuf Poulsen. Mourinho was clearly envious, as he hinted to the press after the game (as reported by Goal).

“You look at the other guys, they play with [Patrik] Schick, [Timo] Werner and [Christopher] Nkunku. Nkunku is tired, get out, on comes [Emil] Forsberg. Schick is tired, come off, there’s [Yussuf] Poulsen.

“This is our situation, it’s like going to a fight with a gun without bullets. So, we did what we could do, and I think if we scored before them the game would be different.”

Now, Forsberg’s agent has spoken about Mourinho’s comments. Hasan Centinkaya spoke to Expressen in Sweden about Forsberg being on the bench and expressed his admiration for Mourinho. He was also asked about a potential move to Tottenham for his client, which received a cryptic response.

“Nothing that surprises me at all. Mourinho is a great legend who has worked with Victor Nilsson Lindelöf as well. Together with Victor, Forsberg is the biggest star in the national team and has caused total chaos in Leipzig. I’m not surprised.

“I can say this … everyone will soon see what will happen to Emil Forsberg.”

Tottenham have not been linked with a move for Forsberg recently, but there is no doubt he would be an interesting recruit.

What is clear, however, is that Forsberg might be available this summer. The 28-year-old has struggled to cement a regular starting place under Julian Nagelsmann this season.

So it would seem his agent is just doing his job, drumming up interest with a little flattery Mourinho’s way. Because undoubtedly Forsberg would want a move to Tottenham and clearly his agent knows you catch more flies with honey.
