Emi Martinez and Leon Bailey were amongst those to laud Tyrone Mings on Instagram after the Aston Villa defender’s display in the win over Everton.
Dean Smith’s men reminded everyone why many were tipping them to be a surprise package in the Premier League this term.

Three second-half goals gave the Villans an emphatic win over the Toffees. It was the first time Rafa Benitez had suffered defeat at Villa Park during his managerial career.
Mings was colossal in the victory. No player completed a greater number of successful passes than the 28-year-old (Whoscored).

Meanwhile, he won seven aerial duels. Again, no player on either side could compete with those numbers. He also managed two clearances and two interceptions.
Unsurprisingly, the centre-back took to social media following the win to express his delight at the result.
And amongst those to reply were Martinez and Bailey, with the pair both lauding the skipper’s display…

Aston Villa ready to justify pre-season expectations as Martinez lauds Mings
Villa have had a mixed start to the campaign. They suffered defeats against Chelsea and Watford. And they failed to beat newly-promoted Brentford.
However, beating Everton is no small feat. The Toffees were unbeaten and amongst the pace-setters heading into Saturday.
Their next two Premier League games see them travel to take on Manchester United and Tottenham.
So it will be fascinating to see how they fare against those sides. It should come as absolutely no surprise if they manage to take a few points from those two fixtures – even if they may seem underdogs.
