Emi Martinez delivers five-word Instagram verdict on Tottenham player
Emi Martinez has told Tottenham defender Cristian Romero that he feels trusting of his Argentine teammate – after Argentina beat Uruguay 3-0.
Lionel Scaloni’s side were at their best as they eased past a Uruguay side that included Luis Suarez, Diego Godin, Matias Vecino and Nahitan Nandez.
Argentine duo Romero and Gio Lo Celso both started and finished the match, as they closed the gap on first-placed Brazil to just six points.
The top four qualify and with second-placed Argentina now six clear of Ecuador in third, they are in the driving seat – with eight games to play.
Argentina were excellent – Lo Celso, particularly, was on fire. The Tottenham midfielder laid on two assists, the first for Lionel Messi.
Uruguay did have their chances – Luis Suarez seeing an acrobatic effort superbly saved by Martinez. Romero posted on Instagram, after the win.
Messi’s goal did come with some incredible fortune, the ball chipped forward as a cross, before nestling in the bottom corner.
The second was fortuitous too. Argentina’s press in the final third saw a pass find its way to an on-rushing Rodrigo De Paul, who finished neatly.
A third came in the second half, this time through Lautaro Martinez. A low cross was flicked through to Martinez by Lo Celso, the Inter star tapping in.
What did Martinez say to Tottenham ace Romero on Instagram?
While it was a comfortable performance from Argentina, the attackers efficient and the midfielders dominating possession – the defence held firm.
Romero and Martinez were key to that, despite Uruguay having six shots on target. Martinez delivered a five-word verdict, on Romero’s post.
His comment, translated: “The trust, you give me” followed by fire emojis.
