Video: Emerson Royal did something brilliant when Kane scored Tottenham winner at City

Tottenham Hotspur newboy Emerson Royal has had an inconsistent start to life in North London since his arrival in the summer, but he played his role at the weekend at Man City.

Royal was named in the starting XI as Spurs pulled off one of the shock results of the season at The Etihad. The Brazilian full-back put in a good display before Matt Doherty took over for a period in the second half.

But it wasn’t just on the pitch where Emerson was offering something for Tottenham. Eagled-eyed supporters spotted what the defender did when Harry Kane netted his late winner. In a clip doing the rounds on Twitter, Royal was seen celebrating the goal like everyone else, but he immediately decided to play assistant manager as well.

The Tottenham man was seen sprinting towards the pitch and giving out some instructions to his teammate, with Eric Dier one of the players over at the touchline.

Everyone was loving the last minute winner from Kane. Even the neutral fan would have enjoyed the late drama as the Premier League displayed why it’s the best league in the world.

For Spurs fans, though, it will have been nice to see a player who has struggled at times really want to get the three points over the line. Emerson played his part as we said, and it was interesting to see how he wanted to get his point across after Kane’s winner.

This is all good stuff for Antonio Conte, really. The Italian wants everyone pulling in the right direction and it’s clear, from this clip at least, that Emerson is one of those players who has bought into things.
