Emerson Royal says Spurs’ Lucas Moura has amazing potential

Emerson Royal has told the Premier League YouTube channel that Lucas Moura has got amazing potential and insisted that his Tottenham Hotspur teammate has the ability to win a game at any time.

It has been a mixed season for the Brazilian. He has featured in 33 of their 37 Premier League games and was a regular starter during the first-half of the campaign.

Lucas has scored six goals and provided seven in all competitions. However, the arrival and emergence of Dejan Kulusevski has relegated the 29-year-old to a more peripheral role in more recent times.

Antonio Conte knows how important he is. Kulusevski did not face Burnley on Sunday. The Swede had been ill. And it was Lucas who got the nod in his place. Some may have opted for Steven Bergwijn for the clash with the Clarets instead.

Emerson and Lucas were asked to put together their dream five-a-side team made of Brazilian players to feature in the Premier League. And for the fifth name, the right wing-back opted for his Spurs teammate.

“Lucas is a decisive player. He’s decisive. He’s got amazing potential and can win the game at any moment,” he told the Premier League YouTube channel.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Lucas this summer. He may be wary of sticking around if he is going to feature less frequently.

Reports have claimed that Tottenham could be tempted to sell him. Perhaps they may feel that a transfer could work out well for all parties. Spurs could get a decent fee for a player who is not starting regularly. And Lucas can potentially secure a key spot elsewhere four years after his £23 million move.

But clearly, Emerson thinks Tottenham would be worse if they sold Lucas this summer.
