Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Newcastle released their 25-man Premier League squad for the 2021/22 campaign.
What’s the story?
Well, the Magpies even had trouble announcing their squad list.
Initially, Callum Wilson was included twice, while Freddie Woodman was nowhere to be seen.
However, it has now been amended to include the 24-year-old, and remove one Wilson – it would certainly be nice to have two versions of the striker!
Interestingly, Steve Bruce has named four goalkeepers in his 25-man squad.
Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, Woodman and Mark Gillespie have been included – it’s not often you see more than three shot-stoppers named.
To provide context, Dubravka is injured, as was Darlow, although the latter is now back in training.
In that respect, it’s strange to see four glovesmen included.
Newcastle’s squad is dangerously thin

That isn’t exactly groundbreaking news, although the squad list announcement portrays it clearly in black and white.
Bruce has named a huge amount of defensive players.
Only Allan Saint-Maximin, Joe Willock and Wilson look capable of providing any threat from the names listed, with Dwight Gayle and Joelinton not exactly prolific.
It just doesn’t look like a squad which belongs in the Premier League, in all honesty.

Bruce has filled all 25 options as well, so he clearly has no intention of scouring the free agent market for any additions.
Hopefully, the Magpies can survive this season, although it doesn’t look good.
Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about four goalkeepers being in the squad…
