Sunderland wonder-kid Elliot Embleton has recently extended his loan spell at Grimsby Town.
In the summer, Embleton joined Grimsby on a half-season loan deal but he will now spend the rest of the season with the League Two side.
Sunderland rate their young midfielder very highly and he will be given the chance to continue his development with regular playing time at Grimsby.
This weekend, though, Embleton can really catch the eye and stake a place for a future spot in the Sunderland side.
Grimsby travel down to London to take on Premier League side Crystal Palace in a late kick-off on Saturday.
This will be the biggest test of the 19-year-old’s career so far.
Embleton has played 19 games for Grimsby this season, scoring four goals.
And the central midfielder will need to be at his best as he takes on a talented Crystal Palace side.
Roy Hodgson may be tempted to rest a few players after a gruelling Christmas period but it will still be a major challenge for Embleton and his Grimsby team-mates.
If the England under-20 international can impress, then he can really show why he is tipped for stardom by both club and country.
Sunderland have made Embleton eligible for this weekend’s FA Cup tie and they will be keeping a close eye on how he fares against Premier League opposition.
