Tottenham Hotspur newcomer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has posted a Twitter message for the Spurs fanbase after sealing a reported £15million move to North London.
The former Southampton captain had been linked with Jose Mourinho’s side for a number of months, and on Tuesday, the move was officially confirmed.
Hojbjerg, who has signed a five-year contract with Tottenham, takes the number 5 shirt vacated by Jan Vertonghen.
The Denmark international had been with Southampton since 2016, when he joined from Bayern Munich for a reported £12.8million (BBC Sport), and made 134 appearances in all competitions.
Prior to his Saints switch, Hojbjerg had been at Bayern since moving from Brondby in 2012, and has won four Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and a Club World Cup with the German club.
Southampton teammate Angus Gunn has previously deemed him a “great leader” and “great player to have in the dressing room” (Daily Echo).
Hojbjerg’s arrival at N17 has been met with much fanfare and his declaration of being “so proud” and “so excited” went down a treat with the Spurs fanbase.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker-Peters has moved in the opposite direction, swapping Spurs for Southampton permanently in a reported £12million move after moving to the south coast on loan in January.
