Leeds United

At the start of the season there always seems to be the anticipation and even expectation around Elland Road that it will be the season for Leeds. Before now it has shown to be to no avail. However, the appointment of Garry Monk is working wonders for the club.

Leeds have been massively boosted by the signings of Kemar Roofe, Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson mainly, all regular starters for the club currently. The reinforcements in their defence have improved the squad significantly. They believe in what they are doing and with a secure back line, you always give yourself the chance of three points.

Jansson has quickly become a fan favourite, and the additions of Hadi Sacko, Eunan O’Kane, Pablo Hernandez and Marcus Antonsson has bolstered their attacking options and squad depth. Rob Green was also brought in in the summer, in an excellent transfer window for Leeds, signing players who improve their starting eleven.

The breakthrough of 18-year-old Ronaldo Vieira has been good to see, with the youngster key in the 2-3 last minute win at Norwich, scoring with a strike from distance – a result that kick started a successful run.

Meanwhile, Chris Wood has been Leeds’ talisman for the past couple seasons, and his goal scoring has continued this time round. The number nine has 14 already this season, with his physicality, experience and movement making him so effective and prolific at this level.

Leeds have the support, the players and the manager to hold their place in the play-offs. Getting into the top six and going all the way are two different things, however. It may be a bit early for Leeds to achieve promotion this season, but if they are in contention, very few teams would want to play them, and to write them off would be foolish.

Best Moment – Norwich 2-3 Leeds United

Prediction – 5th
