Edwards has just made a superb decision on Liverpool player, fans should be ecstatic - TBR View
Liverpool prodigy Harvey Elliott has penned a new long-term contract at Anfield.
This is yet another Michael Edwards masterstroke, and one that Reds fans should really welcome.
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, has reportedly signed a five-year deal.
In addition, he will join up with the Liverpool squad for their pre-season camp in Austria.
Elliott has already impressed for the Reds senior team, clocking up nine appearances and looking bright.
But last season was when the 18-year-old really showed what he was made of when he joined Blackburn on loan.
Elliott racked up 41 games in the Championship for Blackburn, providing seven goals and 11 assists.
He dazzled Rovers, Liverpool and neutral fans alike, and earned a nomination for the EFL’s Young Player of the Season award.
Handing Elliott a new contract shows Liverpool have faith in the player, who in turn will get a big confidence boost and be eager to repay the club.
Also, a new long-term contract means the ball is firmly in the Anfield court if any club tries to approach them for Elliott.
And chances are, it won’t be long before he becomes a regular on the rumour mill, because his potential and talent really are that high.
